Maybe it was his love for seafood as a child that should have been the first
clue, but certainly Captain Ken Lilley was destined to fish!
His love for fishing began as a child growing up along Florida's Space Coast.
Self-taught, he spent much of his time fishing local waters and the flats of the Indian
River. As a young man he moved to Southern
Alabama on Lake Eufaula, one of the premier bass fishing lakes in the United States, where
he gained experience in freshwater fishing.
Eventually his love for the ocean drew him back to East Central Florida and Port Canaveral
where he quickly acquired his diver's certification. He enjoyed the fun of diving for
lobster and spear fishing, but soon realized that nothing
compared to the thrill and excitement of the open ocean and the scream of the reel as a
fish takes the bait and runs! His sportfishing
career over the last decade started with his own boat and the "Reel Rebel"
fishing team. Capt Ken and his team have extensive tournament experience, having won or
placed in numerous events including:
1st Place Cobia - Capt Jacks Cobia Jamboree Tournament - 1997
1st Place Wahoo - "Coconuts on the Beach" Dolphin & Wahoo
Shoot Out - 1998
Top Striking Boat - "Central Florida Offshore Anglers" Memorial
Day Tournament - 1998
Top Lady Angler - "Canaveral Tournament Trail" - 2000
2nd Place Top Angler - "Canaveral Charter Captains Fishing
Tournament" - 2001
Capt Ken also has extensive experience working first as a mate and then as a professional
captain on several charter boats out of Port Canaveral. In 2001, Ken was invited to join Capt. Tim Fletcher on the Cool Beans where he
continues to refine his skills to this day. Ken is an active member of the Florida Sport
Fishing Association, Central Florida Offshore Anglers, Canaveral Charter Captains
Association and the National Association of Charterboat Operators. His specialities include live baiting and trolling
for Kings, Cobia, Dolphin, Wahoo and Tuna. Ken
thoroughly enjoys assisting the novice angler to their first catch as well as, assisting
the expert as they reel in their prize. His
local knowledge, offshore experience and dedication to the sport have yielded him
consistent results and the respect of both his clients and friends on the dock. Ken shares his love of fishing with his wife and
three children and is proud to have their support in the pursuit of his dream!
Ken is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and is fully compliant with their random drug
testing program.
